'When you think about any imagery of your past or present you don’t look at the image in perfect details. There’s the form of the thing. When I look at whatever I’m photographing I’m looking at the essential thing. If I tried to look at every detail I wouldn’t see the form. I’d only see the details. Sharp lens interferes, brings in a lot of superfluous things that I don’t need, particularly its own complexity of design.'
